Why Does The IRL Continue To Find Ways To Push Fans Away?
I have followed the IRL since its inception, and even before the great divide. I am curious as to why they are starting to turn fans away now that they have unified once again. I thought this would be the answer and get open wheel racing back inot the limelight. Boy was I WRONG!
The first order of business for the new league was a TV contract... VS? Who the hell gets VS? I pay Diretcv $60 a month and still don't get this channel!
Less than a month ago the IRL switches its ethanol supplier from a Nebraska based company to a company based in Brazil? Way to keep the money local Tony George. This was the straw that broke the camels back in my book, as I will not be watching any Indy car races this next season, or any season until they out them on a channel I've heard of and at least TRY to please fans again. I have been to the last 14 Indy 500's and decided to not renew my tickets for 09.
I guess this isn't really as much of a question as it is a rant, so I apologize for that. I am just curious to hear what othere fans might think?
Answer:Some years ago, Tony George said that he was going to drag the fans "Kicking and Screaming"....................
Tony George doesn't care about fans. All he wanted was control. PERIOD.
Remember when Tony George said that .1RL races were "boring" from his vantage point when he became a team owner and watched his first race from the pitbox?
One journalist (I forget who) said that the .1RL is as popular as onion-flavored gum.
But the last 14 Indy 500s - so you attended from 1981 to 1995??
